Nutrilite Double X Multivitamin - Review

Nutrilite Double X is one of a kind multivitamin because of the incredible amount of vitamins and minerals you get per serving. If you have not heard of Nutrilite, it is the world’s leading brand of dietary supplements, minerals and vitamins. My review on Double X is based on taste, price, energy level, vitamins and minerals, and health benefits.

Double X Multivitamin

Price: 7/10

Where To Buy - Nutrilite Double X is not available at vitamin stores, you can only buy it online or through independent distributors.

At first Double X seems a little on the expensive side but look closer and you might agree that it is a nice bargain. For about $2.50 a day, you get all the nutrients you need for optimal health and beyond. Like most multivitamins it does not taste sweet like candy cane…well that is not surprising, eating healthy usually does not taste as good as eating junk food.

Double X is a supplement that I can take everyday because I do not experience any bad side effects except that I’m more energized than normal. I took Double X regularly for a week, then stop taking it for a few days and felt a noticeable decrease in energy. The energy from Double X is not the same as the energy you get from drinking energy drinks; the energy feels more natural, last longer and does not give you that quick sugar high from too much caffeine and sugar. I usually take this supplement on a semi or full stomach to avoid the minor side effects. Taking this supplement on an empty stomach gives me a minor upset stomach and makes me feel lightheaded, the feeling usually last for about 30 minute.

I usually take one serving of Double X per day instead of the recommended two servings, this way my tablets last me 60 days instead of 30 days. The one serving already has a good amount of the recommended daily value of vitamins and minerals. To help absorb the vitamins more efficiently, eat some healthy foods before taking the three vitamin tablets. I do not recommend taking more than two servings of Double X per day because you may end up consuming too much vitamins and minerals which can be toxic. For example, the FDA recommended daily value for iron is 18 milligrams, dramatically exceeding the recommended daily value of iron for long periods of time can lead to hemochromatosis which is a disease of having too much iron stored in the body. According to Double X supplement facts, there are no iron in Double X so this should not be a problem.

Is Double X all natural?

The video below claimed that Double X has more plant concentrates than three of the top multivitamins combined: Advance Formula Centrum, One-A-Day, and Pharmanex Life Essentials. Double X may have more plant concentrates but some of their vitamins and minerals are synthetically made. This was a little shocking because according to the video, Nutrilite grows, harvest and process plants for their vitamins on their own certified organic farms. Some of the synthetic vitamins in Double X are vitamin A, C, E, vitamin B1 (thaimin), B6, B12 and niacin. According to the supplement facts, 75 percent of vitamin A is from natural beta carotene. The synthetic vitamins found in Double X is actually not as bad as some of the dietary supplements on the market. Some synthetic vitamins work just as good as natural vitamins because their chemical structure is the same or very similar. Double X is kosher and halal certified and features 20 plant concentrates.

Multivitamin tips

Multivitamins are great for helping you get the necessary vitamins and minerals needed for optimal health but they are not as efficient as eating whole foods. To get all the recommended vitamins and minerals every day, you will have to eat a lot of food which is nearly impossible to do. This is why it is a good idea to take multivitamins with whole food, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and unprocessed meat for optimal health. Before purchasing dietary supplements, make sure you know the differences between natural and synthetic vitamins. Most supplement manufacturers use synthetic vitamins because they are cheaper to make. Some synthetic vitamins are less efficient because they are harder to absorb and are missing some of the key synergistic components.

You can order this product directly from the company at quixtar.com. And as a referred customer, you can order anything at distributor price, which makes Double X $53.90. Any questions? Email me at [link removed]

what are the side effects if somebody ate double x vitamins which got expired a month ago?

  3. PL ChangNo Gravatar | Apr 24, 2008 | Reply

Most vitamins have expiration dates for quality issues, once vitamins reach their expiration date they start to lose their potency. I haven’t try Double X that has been expired so I don’t know the side effects. If it has only been a month, then there shouldn’t be any problems, but to be on the safe side I would avoid it and get a new pack.

If you are taking the womans simply 4 vitamins in a pack, is it safe to take double x, or just stick with one?

  7. PL ChangNo Gravatar | Jul 29, 2008 | Reply

One serving of Double X already has enough of the recommended daily value of vitamins and minerals. I suggest sticking with one to reduce the chance of consuming too much vitamins. Keep in mind that you are also consuming vitamins from the food you eat during the day.

I have some Double X that I have had for a few years. I was curious about the expiration of these. They are no longer in their original packaging so there is no expiration date.

What is the typical life of these vitamins once they have been removed from their original packaging?

I’m not too sure about Double X but most multivitamins can last 1 to 2 years before they lose more than 90% of their potency. Light, air, temperature and moisture plays a major role on how fast vitamins lose their potency. If it has been more than 2 years, I would buy a new bottle.

Is double X safe to take with blood pressure medicine Cozaar and also paxil (the paxil is only as needed for palpitations) Are there any known side effects or things to watch out for if i am mixing these two medications

  12. kevinNo Gravatar | Aug 16, 2008 | Reply

Cozaar can potentially interact with medicine, such as Diuretics, Rifampin, Nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs, Fluconazole and Potassium supplements or salt substitutes. If you are taking these medicine with Cozaar, pay close attention to any major changes in your body.

Double X has low doses of Potassium, about 1 percent of the recommendation daily value. This should not be a problem but watch what you eat because most people get their potassium from the food they eat. Having too much potassium in the body can lead to Hyperkalemia which can cause heart failure.

As for side effects, I can’t give a precise answer because I don’t have any experience with Cozaar and Paxil. As always, consult with a professional, such as your doctor or someone who specialized in these kind of medicine before mixing Cozaar.

The problem with these types of medicine is that they are not made to cure you. Drug companies purposely do this so they can make as much money as they can from you. Try going on a healthy diet by eating organic food rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber, and avoid processed food, especially fast food. These types of food is one of the best tools for preventing health problems.

Me and my husband wanted to have child. My age 38 and my husband 40, we married for 5 years. What supplement should we take? Is double x is enough?

  14. PL ChangNo Gravatar | Aug 26, 2008 | Reply

If you are talking about just vitamins than Double X should be enough. Double X has good amounts of B-vitamins which is important for pregnancy, especially vitamin B9. One serving of double x contains B-12 (375% DV), B-9 (100% DV), B-7 (50% DV), B-6 (375% DV), B-5 (250% DV), B-3 (100% DV), B-2 (375% DV), B-1 (375% DV) per serving. Vitamin B9 is important during pregnancy because it helps prevent neural tube defects in newborns. The only thing about Double X that may concern some people is that at least half of their B-vitamins are synthetic and not natural.

Make sure you are getting enough proteins, carbohydrates, good fats, vitamins, and minerals from healthy food, such as fruits and vegetables, and drink plenty of water (about 6-8 cups per day). When going on a supplement diet, make sure you don’t take too much of the fat-soluble vitamins because these vitamins stays in your body longer and can be toxic in the long-run. As always, consult with your doctor before going on any major diet.
