Amp Energy is Pepsi’s version of how energy drink should be. The 16 fl. oz. green can is filled with an exotic lime-green liquid. When I took my first sip of Amp, the first thing that popped in my head was Jolly Rancher. I’m surprised how much this drink tasted like green apple Jolly Rancher. The great thing about Amp is that it didn’t have a bad aftertaste like some of the other energy drinks I reviewed. I’m not a big fan of Jolly Rancher so I rated the taste at 7. If you like green apple Jolly Ranchers, then this energy drink is just for you. I bought this energy drink at the Holiday gas station for $2.29, with tax it came up to $2.44.
After 10-15 minutes of drinking Amp, I felt an energy rush through out my body which lasted for about an hour. The energy didn’t kick in as hard as some of the energy drinks I reviewed. Energy is powered by maltodextrin, ginseng, taurine, B-vitamins and guarana (an Amazon plant – its fruit contains about 2-3 times the caffeine of a coffee bean).
Amp Energy is for people who likes green apple candy with a lighter energy rush. If you are a person who is health conscious, you may want to stay away from Amp because it contained unhealthy ingredients. This drink is definitely not made for keeping you up on those long boring road trips but is great for a quick energy boost. Amp Energy drink isn’t recommended for pregnant women, children or people who are sensitive to caffeine.
