Energy Food: Best Essential Food Components



In order to sustain a high level of energy through out your life you need to nourish your body with energy foods. These foods are usually foods that contained high levels of essential nutrients, good fats and complex carbohydrates.  Organic plant-based foods usually contained high levels of these essential food components which is why they are known as energy food. These energy foods are great for boosting your energy and protecting your health from free radicals. Free radicals are natural molecules found in your body. Having too much free radicals in your body can damage your cells and DNA leading to numerous diseases and low metabolism. Below is a list of some of the most important energy food components

Complex Carbohydrates

  • Foods containing complex carbs are usually rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Complex carbs take longer for the body to digest, this gives you longer energy because of the gradual rise and fall in blood sugar levels.

B-Vitamins

  • B-vitamins are essential for increasing your body’s energy because it helps metabolized carbohydrates, and is required for proper digestion and the production of energy.

Antioxidants

  • When your body metabolizes food, free radicals are released which can damage your cells and DNA. To reduce their negative effects, you need to consume food rich in antioxidants, such as fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts.

Proteins

  • Known as the building blocks of tissue, protein is important for repairing muscles, bones, cartilage and skin. Protein is needed for cells to grow and function properly. When your body is low on carbohydrates and fat, protein can be used as a substitute for energy.

Essential Fatty Acids

  • Plays an important role for keeping your brain and cells healthy. It is also important for healing wounds and blood clotting. The lack of essential fatty acids can disrupt the balance of energy in your body by preventing your brain and cells from performing at their peak.
