Qigong Energy Flow – Legs Hips Abs & Shoulders
Qigong is a energy exercise practiced by many people in the east. Qigong exercises can help increase energy flow by opening meridians which allow the qi (energy) to flow better through out the body. For more information about Qigong and meridians, click on the links below the “related posts” near the bottom of the page.
This Qigong exercise is designed to stimulate the qi around the legs, hips, abdomen, and shoulders.
- Before doing the exercise, make sure you are in the “Qigong Basic Posture”. Click here for instructions on how to do the posture.
- Stand up straight with your feet shoulders’ width apart, bend your knees slightly to reduce tension and take a few deep breath.
- Stretch both of your arms out to the side like a cross.
- Bring your arms up toward your head like you are doing jumping jacks but without jumping.
- Bring your arms down cradling the back of your head with your hands.
- In a sweep motion (try not to touch your skin), bring your hands down toward your shoulder, down the middle of your chest toward your stomach (your fingers should be relaxed and pointing toward your chest) and sweeping around the waist stopping at your back with one hand over each kidney.
- Next, brush your palms down your hips and the outside of your thigh (remember to bend your knees), towards your ankle. Once at your ankle, sweep your palms across your feet ending at your inner ankles.
- With both of your palms by your inner ankles, brush upward toward you thigh, ending at the lower abdomen. Next stretch your arms back out to start the process over.
- Repeat this exercise about 20 times, don’t forget to breathe regularly and relax your mind. Once you are good at it, try doing the exercise in a continuous motion and imagine the energy flowing along with you.
