Tadasana Yoga Procedure: Improve Energy Flow

Tadasana is the very basic standing pose in Yoga and is also known as the mountain pose. Tadasana is considered one of the most fundamental asanas (postures) because it is the starting point for all other yoga standing poses. According to yoga practitioners, practicing tadasana on a regular basis can help increase confidence, happiness and improves posture.

Benefits

  • Helps release tensions that build up in our bodies due to stress and bad postures
  • Strengthens abdomen, buttocks, thighs, knees and ankles
  • Improves posture and increase energy flow
  • Relieves sciatica and reduces flat feet

Here are 9 easy step on how to practice Tadasana

  1. Stand tall with your feet about 2 inches apart, your feet should be parallel and flat on the floor. If you feel unbalanced, move your feet slightly apart until you feel more comfortable.
  2. Shift your weight back a little to secure your heels firmly to the floor.
  3. Concentrate down to your feet, imagine that your feet have roots growing into the ground connecting you to the Earth’s energy.
  4. Imagine the Earth’s energy flowing through the roots of your feet and through out your body. While visualizing the energy, tighten and relax your lower muscles starting from the ankles, then the calves, knees, thighs, hips and abdomen. Remember to take deep breaths and breathe regularly.
  5. Concentrate on your mid section, tighten and relax your diaphragm, chest, shoulders and neck with every other breath.
  6. Take a few deep breathes, lift your shoulders when you inhale, drop and relax your shoulders when you exhale.
  7. While breathing regularly, imagine your head is being held up by a thread making you weightless.
  8. Breathe regularly and let the air flow in and out of your body.
  9. Stay in this pose for 1-5 minutes or longer if you like.
