Iron Energy Smoothie – Recipe
Anemia is a deficiency of the red blood cells, iron deficiency anemia is the most common type of this disease. People with iron deficiency anemia may experience fatigue because of the lack of iron. Iron is important for energy because it helps carry oxygen to all the organs and cells in the body. This smoothie is designed to increase your energy and health by supplying you more iron to help increase the levels of oxygen in your body. Having more oxygen in your body will help your cells to perform better so you can have more energy.
Quick tips: for a thinner smoothie use non-frozen fruits, for a thicker smoothie use more frozen fruits.
Iron Energy Smoothie Recipe
- 3/4 cup of frozen vanilla yogurt or yogurt of your choice (low-fat)
- 1/2 cup of pitted prunes (diced) note: if too difficult to blend, soaked them in a bowl of hot water for about 10-15 minutes
- 1 cup of cold soy milk (vanilla)
- 1 medium size banana (frozen)
- Add ice cubes if needed
- Put all the ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth, serves about 2 people
