Almonds have many health benefits and are great for increasing your energy when you are tired, it is rich with vitamins, protein and is a good source of iron. Iron is great for boosting your energy because it helps carry oxygen to every cells in your body. A deficiency of iron affects your cell’s oxygen level, resulting in fatigue and poor performance.
The FDA recommended daily value for iron is 18 mg, dramatically exceeding the recommended daily value of iron can lead to hemochromatosis which is a disease of having too much iron stored in the body. The excess iron usually get stored in the body’s organs, without treatment the disease can cause heart, liver and pancreas damage or failure.
Almonds are one of the nuts that has the most protein and calcium. 100 grams of fresh almonds contain about 20 grams of protein and 240 milligrams of calcium. Almonds also contain small amount of B-vitamins which helps metabolize carbohydrates, the body and brain’s main source of fuel.
If you are worried about calories, you might want to stay away from eating almonds. For one ounce of fresh almonds, you are getting about 171 calories. Almonds also contain high levels of fat but most of the fat is monounsaturated which is known as the good fat.
