Tai Chi Hand Pushing Pulling - Energy Exercise

Tai Chi is a energy exercise that involves slow movements and meditations to balance the flow of energy (chi). This Tai Chi exercise is designed to increase the flow of energies between the hands and help restore their energy balance.

Tai Chi Hand Procedure - Pushing and Pulling

  1. Find a comfortable warm place in your house, stand feet shoulders’ width apart with your arms relaxed.
  2. As you inhale, raise your left elbow up to your left shoulder with your left hand in front of your chest. Your left palm should be facing you and your left arm should be parallel to the ground.
  3. Raise your right forearm toward your left palm, your right palm should be facing away from you. With your left palm still in the parallel position, place your right palm in front of your left palm so both of them are contacting each other.
  4. Take a step forward with you left foot, while stepping forward push your right hand against your left hand moving them forward beyond your left foot. As your hands move pass your left knee, bent your knee slightly and transfer some weight onto your left foot. You should be exhaling when doing this step and don’t stretch your arms all the way.
  5. Next, use your left hand (should still be in the parallel position) to pull the right hand back toward your body. Transfer your weight back onto your right foot, then stand with your feet parallel, shoulders’ width apart. Don’t forget to inhale while doing this step.
  6. When positioning your feet shoulders’ width apart (from end of step 5), move your hands away from each other and position your hands so that the left hand is near your left shoulder and your right hand is near your right shoulder. Your palms should be facing forward and don’t forget to exhale during this step.
  7. Repeat the the sequence 4 more times, then change side and do everything the opposite by repeating step 1 through 6. For example: Instead of raising your left elbow in step 1, raise your right elbow this time.
  8. All the steps should be done in a smooth-slow motion.

Practicing Tai Chi on a regular basis is a great way to calm your mind, balance your energy and increase flexibility. The gentle movement is easy on the body which makes it easy to practice regardless of the age.
