Cell Energy Source: Three Most Important

Our physical bodies are made out of trillions of cells that perform specific jobs to keep us alive. Many of these cells produce energy by utilizing oxygen and nutrients. In order for us to maximize our energy levels, we need to take care of our bodies at the cellular level. There are many things we can do to increase our energy, such as exercising, sleeping, drinking coffee, staying in shape, meditating, reducing stress, taking supplements and drinking energy drinks. Some of these examples are good sources of energy and some are bad, but none of them can compare to the three most important sources of energy, which are oxygen, water and healthy food.

Three most important elements for cell health:

  1. Oxygen: Is the most important source of energy for cells because it is needed to produce energy in the mitochondria of cells. The lack of oxygen can cause fatigue and prevents cells from performing at their peak. Cells that are completely starved of oxygen will begin dying within minutes. If oxygen is not replaced quickly, the body will die within minutes. To maintain healthy oxygen levels you should avoid smoking, air pollution and practice breathing exercises.
  2. Water: Is the second most important element for cells. The body can live longer without water than oxygen but only for a few more days. Depriving the body of water for one day can seriously affect cell performance. In normal conditions, depriving the body of water for four days can result in death. The body is made up of about 70 percent water which makes it the most prominent nutrient in the body. Water helps transport nutrients to all the cells in the body and is needed to ionize salt, which provides the electrolyte environment for proper nerve impulses. To prevent dehydration drink about 6 to 8 cup of fresh filtered water per day, this may vary depending on your age, the food you eat and how active you are.
  3. Healthy Food: Is the third most important element for cells because it’s nutrients are needed for energy, cell functions, and growth and development. The body can survive longer without food than water and oxygen, because it can use other energy alternatives. When the body runs out of carbohydrates to burn for fuel, it turns to fat for energy. Once the fat is gone, the body will start using muscle for energy. Depending on the person and the situation, a person can survive a few weeks without food as long as the person is drinking water and has oxygen. Food rich in complex carbohydrate and nutrient is what cells crave for, because carbohydrate is the main source of fuel for the body, and nutrients are needed for normal body functions. Some of the most important nutrients for energy are B-vitamins, magnesium and coenzyme Q10, which are required for metabolizing fat and protein, and the release of energy. To make sure your body is provided with enough carbohydrate and nutrients, consume organic food instead of processed food. Organic food is usually high in complex carbohydrate, nutrients and low in toxins. Processed food is usually stripped of nutrients and has more toxins because of added chemicals.
