Water is as wonderful as it is magical, it is the element of life and is one of the most important element on Earth. Your body is made up of about 70 percent water which is found in every parts of your body. Water is the most prominent nutrient in your body, and is needed for energy, removal of toxins, transport of nutrients, and normal cell functions. Under normal condition, your body can only survive for about four days without water. This is why it is important to drink the right type of water so your health will not suffer.
Before the invention of chemicals, such as pesticides and industrial solvents, the Earth’s water supply system was clean and less polluted. Millions of years ago there was no human made chemicals, the Earth’s ground water was only contaminated by natural impurities, such as nitrate, radon, bacteria, arsenic and other trace metals. Today we have those natural impurities and human made impurities to worry about. Human contaminants, such as pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents and toxic waste are destroying our limited water supply and affecting our energy health.
Water pollution has become a major issue in our society today but there is not much being done about it. Many people agree that having safe drinking water is critical for health but only a few people know the truth about the water treatment system in the United States. The water treatment system in the United States is dangerously out of date because most of them are from the early 1900s and were not designed to remove new contaminants, like pesticides, arsenic, lead, mercury and industrial chemicals. According to Fred Van Lue, a water purification and contamination specialist, about 90 percent of the municipal water treatment plants in the United States do not have modern technology to treat their water supply.
Some people believe that well water is safer to drink because the water is away from pollution but well water is just as polluted or more. Due to agricultural activities, well water can contain higher levels of nitrates, fertilizers and pesticides. If you live near golf courses, you may want to think twice about moving because it is also another major source of contamination for municipal water supplies. The chemicals they use to keep the grass green on golf courses are not very environmental friendly and can easily contaminate nearby water supplies. Contaminated water is one of the major causes for future chronic health problems. Investing a few hundred dollars on a water purifier system can save you hundreds of thousands of dollars from medical bills.
