Apricot Fruit: Heart and Eye Health
Image provided by Harris Graber
Apricot is a fruit that looks and taste similar to peaches and plums with a faint tartness. The golden color fruit is famous for heart and eye health because it has high activity levels of beta-carotene, lycopene and vitamin A. Beta-carotene and lycopene are two important antioxidants that helps reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol). Vitamin A is important for eye health because it reduces free radical damage to cells and tissues of the eye, and is needed for converting light into nerve signals in the retina.
Apricot is important for energy because it has high levels of antioxidants and vitamins. Antioxidants are great for reducing the negative effects of free radicals which may lead to cancer and premature aging. Vitamins are important for promoting normal body growth and development, and the release of energy. Another vital nutrient found in Apricot is fiber which is important for digestive health and energy endurance. Having a healthy digestive system is important for energy because it allows your body to absorb vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids and glucose better. Fiber also increases your energy by slowing down the digesting process. This helps keep your blood sugar constant, resulting in longer energy. Fiber, beta-carotene and lycopene are important for reducing the effects of LDL cholesterol. Having lower levels of LDL cholesterol is important for energy because when your heart is healthy, it is more capable of pumping more nutrients and oxygen to all the cells of your body.
