Antioxidants are important for protecting your cells and DNA from getting damage by free radicals because they neutralize them by donating one of their own electron. Free radicals are basically atoms or molecules that have lost an electron. Molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron are very reactive. They like to bounce around the body and steal electrons from other atoms causing a chain reaction, damaging cells and DNA. Having too much uncontrolled free radicals may cause premature aging, cancer and drain your body of energy.
