I checked out the LDS prep manual I suggested because I thought it might be updated, which it was, and see that it is not cheap anymore, but there is even more in it, so I would think it is even better. I downloaded a PDF version from the site, but that might be a past version. There seems to be another PDF, maybe the updated version, but I don't have time to poke around and sort it out right now.

Although I am spiritual, I am not religious, and was comfortable reading the hardcopy I bought a few years ago which had minimal religous material. There is also a prep forum which sounds great. I remember the site formerly saying one didn't have to be a church member for book or forum, I think that's still the case minus the explicit statement. There are different levels of membership fee, but I haven't joined because I am pulled in too many directions to spend enough time there to make it worthwhile.

This is an old post but someone else might come across it like I did, and you are obviously into "preparing," so I would just like to mention a great book put out by someone affiliated with the LDS church, "LDS Preparedness Manual." There's a PDF file available, http://www.ldsavow.com/preparedness/Preparedness.pdf , as well as a super cheap hardcopy to buy, http://www.ldsavow.com/PrepManual.html . I'm a big foodie and I still learned a lot about food storage, as well as the other needs for survival in an emergency that should be addressed.
