Strawberry has been a fruit that symbolizes love, fertility and sexuality for centuries. Shape just like a real heart and popular as an aphrodisiac, strawberry is eaten in almost every country in the world. Besides its sexy characteristics, strawberry is great for boosting your energy and health. If you are looking for a way to increase your daily intake of vitamin C, look no further. One cup of strawberries give you about 140 percent of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin C. Vitamin C is excellent for promoting cardiovascular health because of its antioxidant properties. Maybe this is why nature made strawberry red and shaped like a heart! Vitamin C is essential for energy because it helps your body to absorb iron better. Iron is important for energy because it helps carry oxygen, therefore allows red blood cells to carry more oxygen in the blood stream. This is one of the main reasons why people lack energy when they don’t have enough iron in their bodies. Vitamin C also helps protect blood vessels from the effects of LDL (bad) cholesterol.

The fruit of love is also full of many other nutrients for assisting your body, such as manganese, dietary fiber, iodine and potassium. Beside these nutrients, strawberries contain anthocyanins which are powerful antioxidants. Because of their high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants, strawberries are good for slowing down the effects of aging. Strawberries have a very short shelf life, try to eat them within 3-5 days or they will start to deteriorate. To increase their shelf life, store them in a air tight container or bag and put them in the freezer or refrigerator.
