Natural Remedies: Disease Fighting Herbs – Part 3


When it comes to treating certain health problems, natural remedies are becoming popular because of their cheap cost and effectiveness. The world today has more problems that ever before and the cost of health care is one of them. With the cost of health care rising, many people are searching for alternative ways to find cheaper medicines. Some are even buying illicit drugs to treat their health problems. The problems with illicit drugs is that they are not regulated and mainly run by organized crime. Many of the drugs are fake and not as effective. Some even contains toxins such as lead. Unlike traditional medicine, natural remedies are natural, cheaper and usually do not have negative side effects. The best thing about natural remedies is that many of them can be grown right at home. This will save you even more money and reduce the risk of contamination of toxins.

  • Marigold: has been used for centuries to treat minor burns and injures, conjunctivitis, eczema, warts, cramps and even snake bites. Marigold is high in antioxidants which are known to neutralize free radicals. Because of its antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and detoxifier properties, marigold is also popular for treating: cold sores, acne, coughs, fungal infections, menstrual cramps, menopausal symptoms, sunburns, wounds, stomach ulcers, viral infections and athlete’s foot. Pregnant women should not take marigold because it may cause miscarriage.
  • Milk Thistle: has the ability to protect the liver, its health benefits toward the liver is so effective that drug companies are distorting the truth from the public. Milk thistle is known for treating cirrhosis and other liver disease, viral hepatitis, inflammatory and lowering cholesterol. Milk thistle is popular as a detoxifier because it has the ability to help the body remove harmful chemicals. Men with prostate cancer and women with uterus, ovaries or breast caner should avoid this herb because of its estrogenic effects.
  • Oregano: has powerful anitbacterial and antioxidant properties. The herb is popular for treating wounds, parasitic infections and cold sores. Oregano is believed to help fend off E. coli infection and is popular for treating giardia. It is also popular for reducing the effects of genital herpes.
  • Parsley: is rich in vitamin A and C, antioxidants and possesses anticarcinogenic properties. The oil of parsley is known to reduce fever and allergies, lower high blood pressure, freshen breath and cleanse the body of toxins. In some cases, parsley has been used to treat ague, malaria and insect bites.
  • Red Clover: this herb has one of the highest level of isoflavones, a chemical that acts very similar to natural estrogens in the body. Isoflavones help the body by keeping the estrogen level balanced. Because of red clover’s high level of isoflavones, it is popular for easing: menopause symptoms, heart disease, prostate problems, bone health and reducing the risk of cancer. Red clover is also used for PMS, osteoporosis and breast health. Because it has high level of isoflavones, it is not recommended for pregnant women. The isoflavones may interfere with the estrogen cycle during pregnancy. Men with prostate cancer should avoid it too.
  • Rosemary: is a natural food preservative herb full of antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral properties. Rosemary is popular for preventing food poisoning, digestive health and headaches. Because of its high level of antioxidants, rosemary is useful for protecting cells and DNA. Women should be familiar with this herb because it helps keep their oestrogen hormones balanced. The imbalance of oestrogen hormones can lead to breast cancer.
  • Rhodiola Rosea: is an Arctic herb known to increase performance, reduce fatigue and stress, reduce high altitude sickness, strengthen the nervous system, enhance immunity and memory, fight depression, aid weight loss, and increase sexual function and energy. Rhodiola has also been used for cancer, colds, flu, asthenia, depression, premature ejaculation and regulating blood sugar levels. People who use blood-thining medicine should avoid rhodiola because the herb may thin your blood even more.
  • Savory: has powerful antiseptic properties which makes it great for improving liver and kidney functions. The natural chemicals found in savory is great for respiratory and digestive health. It is also used to treat many health problems: coughing, headaches, gastric disorders, urine retention, flu, intestinal infections, nausea and fever.
  • Sage: has a long history of medicinal usage because of its wide range of healing properties. Sage has been used for: wounds, ulcers, sprains, cough, soar throats, bacterial and fungal infections, gingivitis, headaches, insect bites, joint pain, liver and kidney problems, lack of appetite, digestive problems, bile flow, vaginal discharge, menstrual bleeding, inflammatory, improving memory and stimulating the nervous system. Sage should not be used by pregnant or nursing women and can be toxic in high levels.
