Pomegranates taste amazing! The pomegranate has to be one of my favorite fruit! If it's fresh and in a good shape, it's incredibly sweet with the tiniest bit of citric flavor (but only the good arils of course). Absolutely amazing!

However, POM pomegranate juice was incredibly disappointing. It's like they took some of the white, bitter outside and mixed it with bad and good arils, not to mention the seed. I'm convinced the best way to make good pomegranate juice is by selecting good handfuls of arils and squeezing them into a bowl. So I guess the only way to do it is homemade...

Anyway, I did manage to get used to the bitter flavor... gradually... sort of... but it was nothing like a fresh, tasty pomegranate. I really hope a persons's first taste of pomegranate isn't this stuff, because then they probably won't be too anxious on trying a fresh pomegranate. And that would be a shame.

Hi Ryan,

I checked the three products that Ultra Selects have on their front page: Mind, Body and Soul. They looked healthy and natural. By looking at the ingredient lists, I didn't find any signs of unnatural ingredients. Although, the term "natural" can be misleading.

If Ultra Selects used organic ingredients, its product would of been even better. Its antioxidant drink (Mind) does have a lot of ingredients that are loaded with antioxidants.

The thing that concerns me about these health supplement drinks is that if they sit on the shelf for a few weeks, many of their water-soluble vitamins (B-vitamins) will dissolve. Also, some of the non-soluble vitamins will loose their potency. When nutrients are extracted from their natural source, such as fruit, they are not as stable. Because of this, these type of claims are somewhat misleading.

Overall, its products looked better than average. I have not try them so I don't know how good they are.

Hi PL,

There's a new company that makes a juice by mixing all of the superfruits (Pomegranate, Acai, Goji, Mangosteen, Noni). The site is www.ultraselects.com. Do you think that the claim for it to be the world's strongest antioxidant drink is true?

thanks,
Ryan
