Turmeric: Natural Treatment for Acne & Rashes

Turmeric is an edible herb that has been used to treat skin conditions by the Chinese and Indian for thousands of years. Turmeric powder — available in the spice section at many grocery stores — are made from the root of the Curcuma longa plant. The root looks similar to ginger and has a peppery-bitter flavor with a hint of citrus. Because of its antitumoral, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, turmeric is popular for treating: hemorrhage, bruises, toothache, chest pain, menstrual and stomach problems, Rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases. Turmeric is also well known for treating skin conditions, such as acne, rashes, scars and burns.

How to use turmeric powder to treat acne, rashes, scars and burns:

  1. Pour about 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder into a small bowl or container.
  2. Add several drops of aloe-vera juice or water to the powder (works best with aloe-vera juice).
  3. Mix the two ingredients together until they look paste-like. You can use your finger or a spoon to mix the ingredients.
  4. Scoop some of the turmeric paste with your finger and apply it on the affected area.
  5. Leave the paste on your skin for 15 to 30 minutes or longer, then rinse.

By doing the procedures above daily, it should help improve your skin texture and tone. Be careful not to get turmeric in your eyes or on your clothes. The yellow stain from turmeric is hard to wash off, you may need to wash your skin a few times to get it off. I recommend applying the turmeric paste to the affected areas only. If you want to use it on the non-affected areas, add more water to dilute the color or use it lightly. The things I like about using turmeric are its soothing effects and moisturizing properties.

Your are welcome! I’m glad my article helped your granddaughter’s acne problem.

I also found out that by eating healthier food, such as organic/raw plant-based food, I didn’t get as much acne. Organic plant-based food contains essential fatty acids and other essential nutrients to fight acne. Eating the wrong fats can cause excess sebum production which increases the chance of pores getting plugged.
