Sage is popular for treating PMS bloating because of its diuretic properties. Sage is also popular for treating: swelling, ulcers, sprains, sore throats, coughs, stomachaches, wounds, insect bites and improving memory. You can buy sage at you local grocery stores in the spice section or produce section. You can also buy it online or at certain farmers market.
How to use sage to reduce PMS bloating:
- Drop a teaspoon of dried sage or fresh sage in a cup of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Strain the liquid to another cup to filter out the leaves.
- The sage tea may be hot so drink with caution.
- If you are using sage tea, steeped the bag in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Since the tea bag prevents the leaves from escaping out into the water, you don’t need to strain the liquid.
Drink 1 to 3 cups of sage tea per day during PMS and it should help reduce bloating. If you don’t like the flavor of sage, add a little bit of honey to sweeten the tea.
