The Truth About Scientific Food Studies
The science community is seen by many people as a community that is reliable, accurate and intelligent. Because of this, food industries will pay scientists a lot of money to say good things about their products. In fact, most of these scientific studies are funded by food industries themselves. Without their sponsorship, many of these scientific studies will not exist. Food industries are very good at manipulating their food claims. They are masters when it comes to deceiving the public from the truth. Below is an example of how food industries can manipulate the public about cow milk.
There have been many scientific studies on how cow milk can strengthen bones, improve heart health and help us grow faster. The problem with these claims is that they usually concentrated on one or a few specific ingredient from milk. Instead of concentrating on a few ingredient, they should concentrate on all the ingredients and how each one affects the body. Cow milk does have a good amount of calcium but calcium alone does not do a good job strengthening bones. If cow milk can strengthen our bones as good as claimed by the dairy industry, we Americans would have very little cases of osteoporosis. Instead, we have one of the highest cases of osteoporosis. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Proteins, vitamins, minerals and exercising also play important roles for strengthening bones. In order for calcium to strengthen bones, it first needs to be absorbed into the bloodstream. This is when vitamin D and magnesium become important because they increases calcium absorption. The vitamin D in cow milk is usually synthetic which does a poor job at increasing calcium absorption. The bone strengthening process is more complex than we may think. When cow milk is processed, many of its nutrients and essential chemical components are destroyed. This causes the milk to be less effective than claimed by food industries. The things that are left out from their claims are the dangerous chemicals found in cow milk. Toxic chemicals that have been found in cow milk are: fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and destructive growth hormones. These chemicals can disrupt the reproductive and immune systems, causing chronic diseases later on in life. Private and independent studies have linked cow milk to: allergies, diabetes, autism, anemia, heart disease, arthritis and even cancer.
The paragraph above is a good example of how bias most food industries’ claims are. They only hire scientists to do studies that benefits them. Many of the scientists hired by food industries are well respected and are from prestigious universities. The reason for this is because it is easier to manipulate the public by hiring scientists with high reputation. The role giving to these scientists is to do an experiment that can convince us to accept the product as good for us. Once that is done, they will use the results to brainwash us by putting out press releases through out the world. Their marketing strategies work very well for making profit but also does a great job destroying our health.
The food industry is not the only industry with corrupted practices. The medical industry also does it too, they both are like families. The products from conventional food industries are causing many health problems worldwide for many reasons. One of them is to benefit the medical industry. More health problems contribute to more visits to the doctor. This is very beneficial for the pharmaceutical industry because doctors will usually prescribe pharmaceutical drugs to their patients. The pharmaceutical industry’s advertising methods are very similar to the food industry. It also uses scientists or celebrities to promote its products. The pharmaceutical industry is only interested in creating medicines that can sustain the disease. Curing diseases is not part of their top priorities because there is little money in curing diseases.
