The throat chakra (fifth chakra), also known as vishuddha, is the chakra that deals with communication and creativity. It is located by the throat. The throat chakra looks like two cones that are connected at their tip. One cone extends in front of the body and the other extends in back of the body. The area where they are connected is located at the center of the neck. The turquoise (light-blue) energies that make up each cone spin opposite of each other. The throat chakra represent the element sound and gives us communication, creative expression and wisdom.
The throat chakra has a very unique role. Within its energy field is where all information from the seven main chakras is translated into a form of expression that is unique to each person. The throat chakra is responsible for keeping the thyroid, throat, mouth, neck, shoulders and lymphs balanced. Because it regulates the thyroid, it plays a vital role for metabolism. One of the reasons why people’s metabolism decreases is because their thyroid gland is not working properly.
People with a weak or blocked throat chakra may not get along well with people because they don’t like to communicate or lack communication skills. They may stutter when they speak or have difficulty expressing their feelings through speech. People with a overactive throat chakra may dominant people with their speech and have a hard time being quiet. Their sense of timing can disrupt communications because they don’t allow time for others to speak. Physical symptoms such as: sore throat, tonsillitis, herpes, toothaches, speech disorders and metabolism disorder can occur in people with unbalanced throat chakra.
