The Seven Chakras: Throat Chakra

The throat chakra (fifth chakra), also known as vishuddha, is the chakra that deals with communication and creativity. It is located by the throat. The throat chakra looks like two cones that are connected at their tip. One cone extends in front of the body and the other extends in back of the body. The area where they are connected is located at the center of the neck. The turquoise (light-blue) energies that make up each cone spin opposite of each other. The throat chakra represent the element sound and gives us communication, creative expression and wisdom.
The throat chakra has a very unique role. Within its energy field is where all information from the seven main chakras is translated into a form of expression that is unique to each person. The throat chakra is responsible for keeping the thyroid, throat, mouth, neck, shoulders and lymphs balanced. Because it regulates the thyroid, it plays a vital role for metabolism. One of the reasons why people’s metabolism decreases is because their thyroid gland is not working properly.
People with a weak or blocked throat chakra may not get along well with people because they don’t like to communicate or lack communication skills. They may stutter when they speak or have difficulty expressing their feelings through speech. People with a overactive throat chakra may dominant people with their speech and have a hard time being quiet. Their sense of timing can disrupt communications because they don’t allow time for others to speak. Physical symptoms such as: sore throat, tonsillitis, herpes, toothaches, speech disorders and metabolism disorder can occur in people with unbalanced throat chakra.
How to clear and balance your throat chakra:
- Crystals: Blue/turquoise crystals or stones are usually good for stimulating the throat chakra. Some popular stones are sodalite, angelite, blue topaz and celestite. Visit this page for more details about using crystals.
- Light visualization: Imagine a transparent turquoise ball floating within your throat. Visualize that this is your throat chakra. Mentally look or sense this turquoise ball of energy shining brightly. If all you see is dark colors, your throat chakra may be very dirty. One of the ways to clean it is to visualize a powerful, pure white light illuminating from the center of your throat chakra. Visualize this white light cleansing your chakra until it is illuminating beautiful turquoise colors. Depending on how dirty your chakra is, it may take a few weeks or months to clear it of negative energy.

Your steps are very interesting. In Pranic Healing, the cleansing technique is very similar. People reading this should take note of the steps.
Thats said, I have to disagree with the chakra rotating counter-clockwise statement. A chakra rotates clock wise if its healthy, and counter if its unhealthy. This generally applies to all chakras, even throat. To test this, try the pendulum. You will see it rotating one or the other.

Some spiritualists believed that each chakra rotate the same way. Others believed that it rotate opposite of each other. From my understanding of chakras they don’t all rotate the same way.

Hmm…I tried the visualization technique (thinking of a blue ball) and was unable to see blue. I could only see a white ball. Why is this?
When you first start cleansing your chakras, you may have a hard time seeing their colors. If all you see is white color, your chakras may be very pure.
