Food additives are popular among food manufacturers because they are cost effective and can intensify the flavor of their food products. Food additives can also increase the shelf-life of their food products which is great for their business. Most food additives are harmful to the body because they are usually created through unnatural process, and added with other harmful chemicals. Manufacturers of food additives don’t spent enough time studying the effects of their products. Many of them are rushed into the market because of one thing, profit! Because of this, most of the food additives on the market are unhealthy and may contribute to chronic diseases. The consumers are the ones who usually suffer because they are the real test subjects.
The food additives listed below are some of the most dangerous because of their carcinogen effects. Some of them are so toxic to the body that they have been linked to many deaths and degenerative diseases.

- Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): Found in chips, junk food and baby food
- Aspartame (also known as Equal, AminoSweet, NutraSweet, Spoonful): Found in sugar-free products
- Olestra (also known as Olean, fake fat): Found in chips
- Sucralose (artificial sweetener): Found in sugar-free products
- Sodium Nitrite and Sodium Nitrate: Found in conventional meat products
- Hydrolyzed Protein: Found in certain junk food
- Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil: Found in certain junk food and most fast food
- Calcium Benzoate: Found in drinks, cereal and meat products
- Potassium Nitrate: Found in canned and meat products
- Refined Sugar and salt: Found in most junk food
