ELISA ACT: Allergy Blood Test

The ELISA/ACT test is a test used for testing a person’s immune response to certain substances including, food, medication and environmental chemicals. The test was developed by Russell Jaffe, M.D. for detecting hidden or delayed allergies. These type of allergies usually occur after a few hours or a few days of being exposed to certain food or chemical. People who want an ELISA/ACT test done will usually have to visit their physician and get their blood drawn. The physician then sends the blood to certified ELISA/ACT laboratory for testing. Below is a quote from quackwatch.com.

The ELISA/ACT is performed by culturing the patient’s lymphocytes and seeing how they react to up to 300 foods, minerals, preservatives, and other environmental substances. After the test is completed, the practitioner (typically a chiropractor) recommends dietary modification and supplements. SPL maintains a referral list of practitioners who perform the test and suppliers who can provide “special combinations of the suggested supplements to reduce the number of ‘pills’ you may have to take.” In 1994, the complete (300-item) profile plus interpretation cost $695.

I heard about the ELISA/ACT test from my Reiki Master. She told me that the test has helped her determined what types of food she is allergic to. This test is one of the best allergy tests I have seen so far because it test up to 300 food, minerals, preservatives and environmental substances. Plus, it targets delayed allergies which, according to researchers, are the common causes of allergies. If you are having a hard time finding the right test to diagnose your allergies, you may want to give ELISA/ACT test a try.
