Starvation on a large scale is going to happen anyway because we have allowed ourselves to be lured into the cities by the promise of high-paying jobs. Now, with the economy destroyed by the wild speculation of these same mega-bankers, when unemployment runs out city dwellers will have little way to grow food.

Food will become a great way to buy votes. For the very poor, it already is because the survive on “commodity surplus” foods.

Farming has been centralized into an industrial practice. This makes it very controllable. It also limits general access to food. What many people don’t realize is that our present centralized farming and food distribution is dependent upon access to cheap petroleum to keep food affordable.

One of the most revolutionary things we can do is to regain control of our own food supply. Everything a family really needs can be grown on a quarter acre.
