In this documentary, Dr. Andrew Kimbrell, chief of the Center for Food Safety, exposes how the FDA and the GM food industry are suppressing their scientific studies on GMOs. According to Dr. Andrew Kimbrell, he actually has copies of early FDA documents that claim GM foods are not the same as natural food, because there are changes in their chemical structures and proteins. He also exposes the corruption behind the FDA and explains why it is an agency that is in favor of corporations rather than the public.
Genetically modified food is a type of food that has gone through some kind of artificial genetic change using genetic engineering techniques. It is derived from genetically modified organisms (GMOs), such as GM bacteria and GM seed. GM foods are poorly tested because most of the studies done on them are short term. In addition, most of the studies are sponsored by the GM food industry. These studies are usually very biased and they mostly concentrate on the positives. Whenever negative results are found, they are suppressed and hidden from the public. Any scientists who try to expose these negative results are threatened and usually fired. If GM foods are as safe as suggested by the GM food industry, then why is the GM food industry threatening or firing its scientists for exposing the health dangers in GM food?
Companies that are in the GM food business do not want to do extensive and long term studies on their products because these studies cost a lot of money. They want to get their products out on the market as fast as possible so they can make quick profits before the public wakes up and realizes how dangerous their products are. By not doing extensive and long term studies, the consumers end up being the guinea pigs.
The studies done by scientists in Scientists Under Attack, concluded that rats fed with GM foods had organ problems because their organs did not develop properly. Other independent studies also found that animals fed with GM foods developed serious health problems, such as infertility, birth defects, immune disorders, growth and digestive problems, and premature aging. These health problems are the results of scientists lacking the knowledge and technology to effectively create GM food that flows well with the laws of nature. If GM foods cause damages to the human body as much as they do to rats, within a century the human race could face extinction. GM foods are not just a threat to the survival of the human race but also the survival of all the species on Earth.
As of this writing, the FDA does not require GM food companies to label their products. Because of this, it is very hard to tell if a food is genetically modified or not. If you live in the United States, there are five foods that are usually genetically modified. They are corn, soy, canola, cottonseed and sugar beets. Since most vegetable oil and a good portion of fast food and junk food contain at least one of these five foods, they are either genetically modified or contain some form of genetically modified ingredients.
