A fine article, Pao! I have never taken the time to research cross-investments between the major food industry corporations and the medical/pharmaceutical industry, but it would make cynical sense that they would want to profit from the damage they must know they are doing to our health -- IF we consume their junk food.

I do know that one of the big tobacco companies has also diversified into snacks and candies, which certainly qualify as junk foods. So, I would not be surprised at all to find cross-investments in other extremely profitable, but damaging, segments of our economy.

Is it a conspiracy to wreck our health and then to make money on the sales of potions and pills that relieve the symptoms? I can't prove it, but it works out that way, whether intentional or not!

Fortunately, we (still) have the choice over what we eat, so the wise thing is to learn to say "No" to junk food and pack a lunch or make other provisions to avoid setting ourselves up for premature aging and pain.

Thanks for raising this important issue! I hope many readers will take your advice. They will thank you when they realize how much better real food makes one feel.
