Gallstones Treatment and Prevention
Gallstones usually occur when there is too much cholesterol or bilirubin in the bile. The bile is a fluid made by the liver for digesting fat. It is stored in the gallbladder and is released into the small intestine when needed. Excessive cholesterol or bilirubin in the gallbladder can crystallize and form stones. Health problems usually occur when gallstones move out of the gallbladder and end up blocking ducts of the gallbladder, liver, or pancreas.
