There are many home water purification systems on the market. Most of them used carbon filter to filter out contaminants and microorganisms, but only a few used carbon filter and UV light. HoMedics Restore Clean Water System is one of the few home water systems that combined UV light technology with carbon filter. Carbon filter does a pretty good job removing most microorganisms but there is still a small chance that they can get through. Also, if the filter is overused the chance of microorganisms bypassing the filter increases.
